Pfaffenheim is the name of a town in Alsace, in northeastern France. Winemaking has a long tradition in Alsace: vineyards have been thriving since Roman times, achieving fame throughout Europe in the Middle Ages, and in our modern age gaining worldwide recognition for producing unique and recognizable wines of great quality. Sheltered by the Vosges mountains, the vineyards are located in a micro-climate with one of the lowest levels of rainfall in France and magnificent sun exposure. The vines are planted on clay-limestone soil from the mid-Jurassic era. The diversity and originality of the terroirs in Alsace and the growers' respect for each grape variety's specific character make for truly fine wines. These wines reflect the typicity of the grape variety and the essence of the terroir where it was grown.
