Our Fahr Out Pilsner is brewed to the highest purity law standards, applicable in Germany. But we do that here in Turner Valley! To get to the full body, we even go through the really intensive process of decoction mashing. This is a fancy word for taking a part of the steeping malt during the mashing process and boil it! This causes essentially the effect as browning meat on a stove - this step increases flavor, mouthfeel and general "umami" flavor - something that is very common in Europe Pilsners and less common in North American Pilsners. To get to the bitterness and to balance out all that body, we use German Noble hops for both, bittering and aroma. This is where this beer really shines - the initial malty sweetness is balanced very delicately by the hops that take over towards the end with a floral spicy, slightly lingering flavor.
