It is commonly thought that clay soil produces more structured wines, but this is not the case in Roccatederighi where Ampeleia's “dell’Asina†vineyard (the “Donkey vineyardâ€) unique soil rich in clay, schist, and palombino limestone rocks creates a Cab Franc that is the expression of pure fruit, with a sincere and vibrant identity. This is a very different breed of 'Super-Tuscan', fresh in fruit with a hint of menthol harmonizing with tart cherry and red currant and bell pepper verve. The lingering minerality invites sip after sip. A terroir Cabernet Franc beautifully farmed, revealing the unique expression offered by Tuscany's upper Maremma.
